    Gentlemen,

I have been working my way through the "Setting Captives Free" course at their website. I must say that I love the way they do their course. I have learned so much. However, I am seeing a stronger need for my wife and I to study the scriptures together. We have tried some of the couples devotional books, but can't seem to be consistent with it. We'll work on it a couple of days or even a week, then something will happen and we will skip a lesson or 2, but then we somehow loose interest. I would love to find a study that truly gets our attention. So I want to know what resources you recommend as a guide for couples devotional. Is their one online like the SCF program?

I'm with you there feedn5! This has been a constant source of frusteration for me. I long to spend time studying the scriptures with my wife in a way that is interesting for both of us and something we would both look forward to doing. I'll be looking for any suggestions that anybody has!

    feedn5,

SCF is a great resource! I'm glad to hear you utilizing their website - I completed their Pure Freedom course and recommend their materials in a lot of my counseling. Perhaps a couple clarifying questions can be asked about what you're exactly looking for:
    1) What type of study do you both desire to do? One that focuses on marriage, personal spiritual growth, basic knowledge, etc?
    2) Why not just schedule one night a week for this study instead of every night? While I think it's important to be daily involved spiritually with your spouse, you may need to "start small" and work your way up. Don't hesitate to be as creative as you can - there's no "way" that "it" has to be done, outside of remaining submitted to God, His word and His Spirit.
    3) I personally don't know of any online studies, although there probably is. What about finding a site that the Bible is "read to you" (audio files) and then discussing what you've read with your wife? (here's one I use daily - it is todays audio files: http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/devotions/one.year.tract/?date=2009-01-21) You'll be surprised at how much scripture you can listen to compared to how you read.

I'd suggest a basic study in marriage using Wayne Mack's "Strengthening Your Marriage" book. It is very practical and very easy to read with short chapters.

Hoping that this helps in a little way!
