What I Want for Father’s Day

Hey Dad,
Complete the following statement:

What I’d really like for Father’s Day this year is…

This Post Has 48 Comments

  1. a replacement for my tape measure that has mysteriously vanished. But aside from that, I just want a nice quiet uneventful day with my family.

  2. To be able to take my oldest son to 3E or take my middle son to an NBA championship game or to take my youngest son to see iron man 2 or to take my wife to reunion tower for lunch or to get kayak lessons.

  3. I’m having my 8th surgery in 7 years tomorrow and have been out of work for a year in a half, What i’d really like for father’s day is to take my family to Disney World because they deserve it.

  4. Love, mercy and grace from my family and strength and wisdom from God to lead my family (and forgiveness from all when I mess it up).

  5. A day with my wife and five children having a picnic at buttermilk falls. A full day of hiking and laughing with them all!

  6. The strengh to stop barking orders…to be able to look past the little things…to realize theses years with the wife and kids go by to fast. To let the family around me know how much I do love them, because with out them…there would be no fathers day!God bless all you DAD’s.

  7. Disc Golf discs and a round of disc golf at the local park with the family. Grill some burgers or chicken for dinner.

  8. What I really would like for father’s day is my 17 year old fantastic daughter to be free of depression and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and have a normal day in our life, for once.
God Bless all dads out there (moms too)

  9. A good long nap, then watch the Twins baseball game (GO Joe Mauer), grill some sausage and spend the evening with my wife and two wonderful girls.

  10. Allow me to serve my wife and children in a mega way that day. Their the reason why I get to be called “Father!” Matt 20:28, Gal 5:13

  11. My 21 year old son an I are going to take my Camaro to an autocross race and burn about 5000 miles off the tires in just a couple of hours. After a 21 year hiatus from autocrossing I can’t wait!

  12. This year I would just like the opportunity to see my children on Father’s Day. This year due to some marital issues, I cannot see my children for 3 weeks to include Father’s Day. So to all those dads out there, please remember to tell your kids that you love them and hug them as much as you can. Not just on Father’s Day but every day. I pray that no other dad will have to experience the loneliness of living apart from your wife and kids. But you never know if that day will come when not only can you not hug them but you can’t tell them you love them. Carpe Diem, seize the time that God has given you to love your wife and children.

  13. A picture of my wife and kids to keep on my desk so I can somehow hang on to these days that fly by so fast.

  14. To know that my three kids know how much I love them and how thankful I am that God allowed me to be their dad, in spite of the mistakes I’ve made. I would also like to be an encouragement to dads who are struggling. Last but certainly not least, I’d like my wife to know that I love her with all my being and that I couldn’t be the dad I am without her by my side.

  15. Children who demonstrate their love for each of the other family members. An updated photo of the kids. A homecooked breakfast spread. A quiet night out with the wife.

  16. After my only son got married, I told my daugter-in-law and my four daughters that each year for Father’s day I want a weekend away with my son and sons-in-law. Just me and the boy(s). The first year he and I spent a weekend working around my mother’s house. I recently received my first son-in-law and am lookin forward to whatever he and my son will decide to do. From my unmarried daughters, my gifts normally focus around tools or time with the family.

  17. Have the Holy Spirit speed up the refining process so I can be the dad I am supposed to be and reap those rewards before they all grow up

  18. To spend the day with my four boys having fun because I am blessed with them I can celebrate fathers day

  19. Praying that I can be the type of Dad my father is/was and even better. God rest his soul in heaven.

  20. I would like nothing better than to hold my oldest son. They way that I did when he was three and we read books together…Just one more time.

  21. I would love to hear from my three children just how much I mean to them. I know they love me it just good to hear why they love me.

  22. I would love not to get “stuff: but to hear my kids let me know I mean something to them as a Dad and I would love my wife showing encouragement in my feable attempts at life.

  23. Help with my projects around the house. Clean up my workshop and help washing and vaccuming the cars (kid messes and crumbs). Fishing with my family too.

  24. I would like a router with router table for Father’s Day so I can complete the built-in shelving for the school room.

  25. Mass in the morning, brunch, pool, build something in garage, pray the rosary, tacos for dinner, bedtime story. —All that with the wife and kids.

Spend naptime and after the kids go to bed with my wife watching a movie.

  26. To spend the morning with my kids and wife in service worshipping our Lord and Savior. The rest of the day just enjoying my time with them praising God for each one of them and what a true blessing they are to me.

  27. After church in the morning. -Just spending time together. Eating out, go fishing, or “get a bike ride”. (as my daughter would say it.)

  28. Forgiveness – That is what I want. My wife let me know my oldest daughter (12) was distant/hurt/angry for years because of an image she had in her mind of me. I wrote this poem to her and gave it to her the day before Father’s Day. She said she is now hopeful – what more could I ask for? Well one thing from brothers in Christ; please pray to heal our relationship.
    ——————————-

When you entered this world, I knew I was not equipped,
You needed a more capable Father not a misfit.

I can not believe God blessed me with YOU!
The love he gave me is and always has been deep and true.

The mistakes in my life do not compare,
to the regret I now face in a state of despair.

    I am so sorry for the picture you have of me at five;
I know the image of me yelling, angry, and scary is still alive.

    As you have grown older, how horrible it must be;
To see the image and feel fear when you wanted a true “Daddy”.

Please forgive me for the person I am.
I want to erase those memories and replace them – if I can.

I don’t deserve your forgiveness, this I know!
My words are meaningless without the action I show.

Please pray for me as I try to repair what I broke.
I am filled with sorrow, I can’t stomach my reproach.

I cry out and pray to OUR heavenly father above,
To repair and then fill our relationship with true joy, care, and Love.

I pray one day when it’s time for you to walk down the isle,
Through the tears, we would give each other a wink and a smile.

Tears of sadness because we will both be missing,
the best father and daughter relationship healed only through God’s blessing.

A wink as the message between God, you and me,
A praise sign He transformed a wretch, and gave you, Your “Daddy”.
