    This year I would just like the opportunity to see my children on Father’s Day. This year due to some marital issues, I cannot see my children for 3 weeks to include Father’s Day. So to all those dads out there, please remember to tell your kids that you love them and hug them as much as you can. Not just on Father’s Day but every day. I pray that no other dad will have to experience the loneliness of living apart from your wife and kids. But you never know if that day will come when not only can you not hug them but you can’t tell them you love them. Carpe Diem, seize the time that God has given you to love your wife and children.

    To know that my three kids know how much I love them and how thankful I am that God allowed me to be their dad, in spite of the mistakes I’ve made. I would also like to be an encouragement to dads who are struggling. Last but certainly not least, I’d like my wife to know that I love her with all my being and that I couldn’t be the dad I am without her by my side.

    After my only son got married, I told my daugter-in-law and my four daughters that each year for Father’s day I want a weekend away with my son and sons-in-law. Just me and the boy(s). The first year he and I spent a weekend working around my mother’s house. I recently received my first son-in-law and am lookin forward to whatever he and my son will decide to do. From my unmarried daughters, my gifts normally focus around tools or time with the family.

    Forgiveness – That is what I want. My wife let me know my oldest daughter (12) was distant/hurt/angry for years because of an image she had in her mind of me. I wrote this poem to her and gave it to her the day before Father’s Day. She said she is now hopeful – what more could I ask for? Well one thing from brothers in Christ; please pray to heal our relationship.
    ——————————-

    When you entered this world, I knew I was not equipped,
    You needed a more capable Father not a misfit.

    I can not believe God blessed me with YOU!
    The love he gave me is and always has been deep and true.

    The mistakes in my life do not compare,
    to the regret I now face in a state of despair.

    I am so sorry for the picture you have of me at five;
    I know the image of me yelling, angry, and scary is still alive.

    As you have grown older, how horrible it must be;
    To see the image and feel fear when you wanted a true “Daddy”.

    Please forgive me for the person I am.
    I want to erase those memories and replace them – if I can.

    I don’t deserve your forgiveness, this I know!
    My words are meaningless without the action I show.

    Please pray for me as I try to repair what I broke.
    I am filled with sorrow, I can’t stomach my reproach.

    I cry out and pray to OUR heavenly father above,
    To repair and then fill our relationship with true joy, care, and Love.

    I pray one day when it’s time for you to walk down the isle,
    Through the tears, we would give each other a wink and a smile.

    Tears of sadness because we will both be missing,
    the best father and daughter relationship healed only through God’s blessing.

    A wink as the message between God, you and me,
    A praise sign He transformed a wretch, and gave you, Your “Daddy”.
